The bodies of four Indiana National guardsmen, including two from the Chicago area, who were killed in Afghanistan, arrived late Sunday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Christopher Patterson of Aurora, and Brian Leonhardt of Merrillville, Ind., were killed Thursday along with Staff Sgt. Jonathan Metzger, 32, of Indianapolis and Spc. Robert Tauteris, 44, of Hamlet.

The four members of the Valparaiso-based 713th Engineer Company died Thursday when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb.

Due to attend the ceremony were the families of the four, Joint Chiefs Chairman Martin Dempsey, Army National Guard Director Lt. Gen. William Ingram, and Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger.

The remains are expected to return to Indiana and Illinois within two weeks.
