Mayor Joe Cook of southwest suburban Channahon was sentenced to six months home confinement Tuesday for failing to file federal income tax returns.

He was accused of six misdemeanor counts of not filing personal and corporate returns for $290,000 in income.

Cook, 45, has been mayor since 2003. He pleaded guilty to two counts. He must also serve two years probation, and repay almost $15,000. He resigned as president of the Will County Governmental League and apologized in court.
