At the ceremony at Public Safety headquarters, Nauden's widow placed his star in the case that holds the stars of 481 other officers.
Nauden was a 21-year veteran of the department. In May of last year he was working on a narcotics investigation when he became ill and later died of a heart attack. His family says Nauden's commitment steered him toward narcotics work.
"He was a brave person and he wanted to help the community and get rid of criminals, and that's where he felt he could really do a good job," said Norvell Nauden, family member.
Nauden was awarded 49 department commendations. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
