Report: Trans fat levels dropping in Americans

A new study shows the level of trans fats in Americans' blood is declining.

That's according to an article in USA Today.

The newspaper reports a dramatic drop of 58 percent from 2000 to 2009.

Trans fats are often used in fried and pre-packaged foods and are linked to high cholesterol, obesity and heart disease.

The lead author of the study says the drop in trans fat levels should result in a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease in the U.S.
