Chicago expanding bike-sharing program

Chicago is adding to its reputation as a bike-friendly city this summer with its first large-scale bicycle-sharing rental program.

The city has hired an Oregon company to operate the program.

More than 5,000 bikes will be available for rent at 500 bike docking stations around the city.

The docking stations will be located in the busy neighborhoods, near El stops and Metra stations. It expands a smaller-scale bike-sharing program that began in 2010.
