Cohabitating couples having kids more

April 12, 2012

A study by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention finds 22 percent of first births from 2006 to 2010 were to such couples, nearly doubling the rate since 2002.

The reason for this is the rising number of men and women living together, the study says.

Researchers say this is important because research has shown that children born out of wedlock generally suffer more instability and grow up with fewer resources.
