Two north suburban teens have been recognized as the state's top youth volunteers.

They are brother and sister Jonny and Daniella Cohen of Highland Park.

Sixteen-year-old Jonny invented an aerodynamic shield that goes on the front of a school bus.

The shield reduces wind drag and improves gas mileage. Thirteen-year-old Daniela co-manages a pen pal program that connects students in the U.S. with children in India.

They communicate through letters and video chats.

The Cohens were selected for this honor as part of the 17th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
