Reports of teens drinking hand sanitizer

A dangerous trend is sending some teenagers to the emergency room.

About a half dozen teens in southern California have been treated for alcohol poisoning in the last few months after they drank hand sanitizer.

Liquid hand sanitizer is 62-percent ethyl alcohol and is easy for teens to purchase.

Experts say parents should buy foam hand sanitizer because it's more difficult to distill the alcohol. Parents should also monitor hand sanitizer the same way they would liquor or medicine.
