Ten people were arrested during a sting operation on the city's West Side by Chicago police called Operation May Day.

The ten drug-related arrests include suspects involved in gangs and with violent criminal background, CPD officials said in a release on Wednesday.

The CPD's Narcotic Division teamed up with suburban and state law enforcement agencies to track drug sales of heroin, which have led to recent overdoses in nearby suburbs. Seven people were charged with possession of heroin and three others were charged with delivery of the drug.

Police say some of the suspects admitted they were gang members, registered sex offenders and convicted felons.

Three vehicles were also seized.
