Rogers Park shop owner shoots alleged robber

A Chicago jewelry shop owner says he shot a robber who grabbed a necklace away from his 4-year-old granddaughter.

The small store in West Rogers Park was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon.

Tthe shop owner, who doesn't want his name used, is 66 years old and partially paralyzed from a stroke. He says he shot 19-year-old Musa Thomas in the left hip after he mistreated his wife and granddaughter.

Thomas is charged with armed robbery.
