Pre-diabetes rate among teenagers rising

A new study finds the percentage of US teens with pre-diabetes or full blown type-2 diabetes has more than doubled in recent years.

Many American teenagers, including some with a normal healthy weight, already have one or more risk factors for heart disease.

The good news is that teen obesity rates have leveled off and the rates of high blood pressure and high bad cholesterol levels have also remained steady.

Scientists say children and teens need more help with following a healthy diet and staying physically active.
