Chicago mold count off the charts, making allergy sufferers miserable

August 6, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Allergist Joseph Leija, who performs the daily official allergy count for the Midwest, says mold levels are the highest he has seen in 15 years.

Leija blames the continued heat, high humidity and weekend rain for causing the surge in mold spores.

Many people will experience itchy throats, runny noses and may even feel rundown. Staying indoors, keeping windows closed, using air-conditioners and taking allergy medications can ease symptoms.
