Carl Davis remembered as Chicago music legend

The service took place in south west suburban Tinley Park.

Davis was a music producer who helped make the sounds of Chicago during the 60's and 70's.

Among those who spoke was singer Gene Chandler, who credited Davis for helping make him what he is today.

"There wasn't a time that I called my brother, my friend, that he didn't step up to the plate and support me," Chandler said.

Davis died August 9 after battling an autoimmune disorder.

He was 77.
