Survey: DC drivers are the worst; Chicagoans not so bad

August 30, 2012 (NORTHBROOK, Ill.)

According to a new survey by Northbrook-based Allstate Insurance, drivers in the nation's capital are the worst.

The survey found drivers in Washington DC were 112 percent more likely to get into a crash compared to the national average.

The top three on the worst drivers list also includes Baltimore, Maryland, and Glendale, California.

Topping the safest driver list is Sioux Falls, South Dakota, followed by Boise, Idaho, and Fort Collins, Colorado. Chicago made the list at 152.

The insurance company says its report is intended to encourage people to talk about safe driving and is not used to determine Allstate's rates.
