The Puppy Mill Project organized a peaceful march down Michigan Avenue on Sunday.
The marchers want to educate the public about puppies often sold through pet stores, the Internet and newspaper ads.
They say while the new pet will likely grow up in a loving home, its mother is left behind to reproduce more puppies under inhumane conditions.
