British health experts suggest smokers start by just inhaling less or stopping at only certain points during the day.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence believes for hardcore smokers, this approach will act as a stepping stone.

Research shows two-thirds of smokers want to quit.

This guidance is an attempt to reach those who are struggling who feel they are not able to give up completely.
