Could annual flu shot become thing of the past?

Unlike vaccines for other diseases, a flu shot is only good for one season against a particular strain of influenza.

But researchers at the University of Oxford suggest change may be on the horizon. They are working on a vaccine that will target any type of influenza virus and make annual shots unnecessary.

Imagine a "universal flu vaccine." You would get two shots when you're young and then boosters later in life. Scientists believe this reality is within our grasp.
