A convicted bank robber who escaped from a high-rise jail in downtown Chicago is believed to have left the metropolitan area.

Kenneth Conley has not been seen since last Tuesday, the day of the escape.

The 38-year-old and his cellmate Joseph "Jose" Banks escaped from their cell on the 15th floor of the Metropolitan Correctional Center by making a rope out of bed sheets.

Banks was captured after three days on the lam.

The FBI says it is still actively searching for Conley.
