Under a new state law, the license suspension periods will increase.
For a first offense, it will jump from 30 days to six months.
The state is also cracking down on those who use a placard or plates registered to someone who has died.
Drivers will have their licenses revoked for a minimum of one year and pay a $2,500 fine.
