Street named in honor of civil rights icon Dr. Timuel Black

One of Chicago's greatest civil rights icons was honored Saturday with an honorary street naming.

Dr. Timuel Black, 94, is a historian, educator, and author.

He attended at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in Chicago Friday.

Saturday's unveiling of the honorary street sign was scheduled for 1 p.m. at 50th and South State streets.

Black has lived in that neighborhood since 1919.
