Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter spoke to hundreds of youth at a rally in Gary, Indiana on Saturday.

Dr. Bernice King was the keynote speaker at Keeping the Dream Alive Symposium rally at Van Buren Baptist Church.

She spoke to a crowd of about 2,500 students.

The event aimed to get the area's youth involved in their communities.

"If you study the movement my father led, it took a single act to inspire, what I believe, was worth the transformation," she said.

Students could also take part in a Keeping the Dream Alive essay contest, where the winner will be awarded a $500 scholarship.
