Work begins next Tuesday on the reconstruction of the Kedzie Avenue bridge.

It goes over the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal on the city's Southwest Side.

The three-span fixed bridge was first built in 1909 and reconstructed in 1969.

It will be restored with a new concrete roadway deck, repaired girders, along with new sidewalks.

The $5 million project will be performed in two phases.

Work should be complete by November.
