A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association says under the tongue drops may be a good alternative to allergy shots.

The study involved putting small amounts of inhaled allergens, such as mold and pollen, in liquid drops under the tongue. Researchers found strong evidence that drop therapy led to a 40-percent higher reduction in chest tightness, coughing, and wheezing compared with other treatments.

The Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved this therapy.
