Chicago police officers awarded for heroism

Almost 350 Chicago officers received commendations for exceptional police work at headquarters on Tuesday.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy presented the rewards to 342 police officers. They were recognized for stopping burglaries and car jackings, as well as for helping victims of car accidents.

The mother of Clifton Lewis, who was shot and killed while working as a convenience store security guard, was honored on behalf of her son.
