Hatyina sentencing expected Friday in boy's boat death

June 14, 2012

Defense witnesses are on the witness stand Friday. On Thursday, the judge heard from family members of the victim, 10-year-old Tony Borcia.

David Hatyina was driving a boat that struck and killed Borcia on the Chain O' Lakes last July. Authorities say he had cocaine and alcohol in his system.

Hatyina has pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI. He faces up to 14 years in jail.

On Thursday, Borcia's family read impact statements.

"I will never forget, two people on that boat, staring at us like they were watching a movie," Jim Borcia, father, said.
