Rose was from north suburban Beach Park.
The plane arrives right on schedule. Tanker trucks shoot water cannons to greet the arrival of a local hero who gave his life fighting an Arizona wildfire.
"It's the ultimate sacrifice every firefighter knows he could face at any time," said Mark Corter, Chicago Fire Department. "We're all from the same brotherhood."
The 23-year-old Rose grew up in Beach Park before moving to Arizona at age 16. He eventually joined the elite Granite Mountain Hotshots crew in Prescott, Arizona. He was one of 19 in his crew killed when winds suddenly shifted while they battled a wildfire. Most here never met Rose.
Hundreds of fellow firefighters along with civilians line the road to honor Rose. A parade of fire and police vehicles lead the way for the limo carrying the firefighter's family and his remains.
Rose's fiancee Tiffany is expecting their baby girl in October. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday.
