Flyover Friday: Mundelein High School, home of the Mustangs

August 30, 2013 (MUNDELEIN, Ill.)

School colors are scarlet, gray and white; the school mascot is the Mustang; the Marching Mustangs Band is 240 students strong - they performed last year at Disneyworld in Orlando; they have also performed at a Chicago White Sox game; at the Orange Bowl and Citrus Parade in Tampa Bay; and last year, 2013 graduate Donald Renz was chosen to play with the All-American Band at the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena.

Mundelein High School opened its doors in 1961 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. There are roughly 2,200 students in grades 9-12. -The students in the formations, in addition to marching band members, are members of Link Crew, student leadership, students in the Student Athlete Leadership Training [SALT] program, and other interested students who were okay with getting up at 5 am!

Homecoming is October 4 against Libertyville - our arch rival. The team was winless last year. George Kaider will be in his second year as coach. He is a guidance counselor at the school.
