-The marching band was not active for the past 20 years until Marching band instructor Cheryl Filipek joined our school!
-She activated a band that is now the talk of the community!
-Cheryl is a former CPS teacher and joined the Niles North family at the 2012-20-1013 school.
-This is her 2nd year with us and has done incredible things with this new Marching Band!
-The Varsity Vikings Football game is on Saturday, September 7th at 1pm! The Vikings will be playing against their sister school, Niles West High School! This is the 3rd annual Skokie Skirmish.

Enrollment: 2,233 students
Over 60 percent of the student body report that they speak another language

There are 24 athletic teams and 75 clubs and activities for students
There were 479 graduates in the Class of 2012
In 2012, almost 300 students took more than 620 Advanced Placement exams.

Accomplishments:

The Niles North Science Olympiad Team received the Nambu Award in recognition for winning the Gravity Vehicle Design Challenge at the state tournament.
NN was selected as one of 14 partner high schools of the Research and Development STEM Learning Exchange.
Niles North Chemistry Teacher John Kretsos won teaching's Golden Apple Award in 2013.
The D219 Skokie-Lincolnwood-Morton Grove-Niles Relay for Life of which Niles North is a part, raised approximately $101,000 at the 2013 Relay for Life.
The Niles North Athletic Dept. Won the Strength of America Award in 2013.
Niles North teacher John Kretsos was awarded the 2013 Davidson Award from the Illinois Chemical Education Foundation and the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois.
At IJAS State Competition, 26 Niles North students earned 25 Gold Awards, 5 Silver Awards, 4 Best in Category Awards and other honors.
Three Niles North students were selected to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2013, one of the world's most prestigious events for high school students.
At the International Career Development Conference (DECA), a Niles North student was selected (1 of 3) out of over 500 students to be personally mentored by Steve Greenbaum, CEO of PostNet and the Keynote Speaker of the Contest.
A Niles North teacher was featured in the book From Possibility to Success: Achieving Positive Student Outcomes in Inclusive Classrooms by Patrick Schwarz.
A Niles North debater was named Top Speaker at Illinois Debate Coaches Association Novice/Junior Varsity State Tournament.
The Niles North Music Director was selected to direct Percussion Ensemble at 2014 Illinois Music Education Conference.
A Niles North teacher was selected for the 2013 ECO Classroom ecology field experience to be conducted in Costa Rica.
The D219 student-run organization School Chest/ Dance Marathon, raised more than $83,000 for Rustic Falls Nature Camp.
Two Niles North students received national recognition with Silver Keys at the national level of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. They were honored at Carnegie Hall.
Niles North students earned 22 gold and 8 silver awards on the National Spanish Examination.
The Niles North Chess Team earned fifth place at Nationals in 2012. The Chess team has won the state title three times: 2012, 2010 and 2006.
A Niles North violinist won the North Suburban Symphony's Young Musicians Competition and the Midwest Young Artists Walgreen's National Concerto Competition, Senior Division.
