Maxwell Sherman was arrested in connection with the death of Lauren Daverin in Rockville Center, N.Y. Her body was discovered on August 22.
Sherman has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutors now say more criminal charges could be filed against Sherman, but they're not specifying what they are.
A Barrington Schools spokesperson says Sherman and his family split time between their New York and Barrington homes.
