A Chicago area veteran wounded during the Iraq War received a helping hand at home Thursday by some local volunteers.

Ramina Oraha was escorted home from an area Home Depot store by a motorcycle honor guard Thursday.

While the 28-year-old was away, 75 volunteers from the company helped remodel parts of her home as part of their celebration service campaign.

Parts of the house were repainted and the kitchen remodeled, making it more accessible.

Oraha was lost part of her sight and suffered brain trauma during an attack at her barracks in 2008.
