NJT Raritan Valley service resumes after train hits cop car

The cruiser was in proximity of the crossing, but it's under investigation as to exactly where the car was when it was hit.

The train, with no passengers, was returning to Raritan Yard when it struck the vehicle around 11:50 a.m. in the vacinity of the Polhemus Avenue crossing.

A Bridgewater police officer sustained non life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for further treatment.

There were no injuries to the crew aboard the train.

Bridgewater Police were in the area investigating reports of trespassers along the tracks.
