Chicago weather: Temps fall, snow expected this weekend

December 5, 2013 (CHICAGO)

"That's done. That's gone. Past tense," ABC7 Eyewitness News Meteorologist Tracy Butler said of the unseasonably warm numbers Chicago saw earlier this week.

Digits reached into the 50s on Wednesday, but fell overnight. Thursday's high temperature will be in the low 30s, and by Friday the low 20s. Saturday will be "bitter cold," with a high of 20.

According to the National Weather Service, "Today will be cold and brisk. . . with temperatures 20 to 30 degrees colder than those observed on Wednesday. There will be periods of sunshine. However high temperatures will struggle to reach the teens to 20s today."

As for tonight, expect "bone chilling cold" to prevail, NWS says. Wind chill readings will be 5 to 10 below zero.

That cold continues through the weekend, and could impact the Chicago Bears game against the Dallas Cowboys at Soldier Field.

"I heard it's going to snow. I'm so pumped, so pumped. I'm pulling out my boots and everything," said Lis Riley.

The arctic cold front struck the Northern Plains earlier this week.
