JDRF hosts 'Chance of a Lifetime' gala; Mayor Rahm Emanuel attends event raises funds to help find cure for type 1 diabetes

A big goal for a gala Saturday night in Chicago as organizers hope to raise $3.5 million to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

The 'Chance of a Lifetime' gala is hosted by JDRF, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was among those attending.

The event featured dinner along with silent and live auctions.

JDRF is the world's largest funder and advocate for type 1 diabetes research.
