Chicago police are sharing some good news about a 15-year-old girl who was raped and severely beaten earlier in December on the city's Northwest Side.

The girl had been unable to communicate with police since she was found on December 17 lying in a pool of blood in the backyard of a home in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood. However, Chicago police Supt. Garry McCarthy says she is improving and has spoken to detectives.

The detectives are not offering details on what information she was able to share.

Police say they continue to look for her attacker.
