Ex-alderman Ambrosio Medrano to be sentenced; Prosecutors want longest prison term ever for Chicago politician

Prosecutors want former Chicago Alderman Ambrosio Medrano to serve the longest prison sentence ever given to a Chicago politician.

They say he should be sentenced later this month to between 14 and 17 and a half years for his two separate convictions on corruption charges.

Medrano's attorney tells Eyewitness News that is actually in the middle range of sentences on convictions like this and less than the feds originally asked for.

The former alderman served two-and-a-half years in prison in the 1990's for accepting a bribe.
