Three students were walking together on 9G just north of Broadway when they were struck by the car at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, January 31. The driver fled the scene, but was located a short time later, according to a statement from the Dutchess County Captain John Watterson.

Sarah McCausland, 19, of Winnetka, and Evelina Martin Brown, 20, of Seattle, were struck and killed by the car in Tivoli, NY. Both attended Bard College, which is located just a few miles away.

''Sarah was a multi-talented beautiful human being. She had a spirit and style all her own. She loved music, learning, and had a passion for life. The world is a lesser place without her. She will be truly missed by many,'' the McCausland family said in a statement.

Carol Boeck, 63, of Red Hook, N.Y., is charged with felony DWI and vehicular manslaughter. Boeck, who has a previous DWI conviction, is being held on $100,000, said officials.
