Crews added to fill record number potholes; Additional workers needed due to historic winter

February 21, 2014 (CHICAGO)

About 30 crews will now be working every day to fix the road.

The six additional crews can fill 1,500 potholes on top of the 5,000 that are repaired daily.

Of course our historic winter is to blame for the pothole filled streets.

"Slow down, be aware of them, they're working in tough conditions, they're doing their best, we've had a couple of accidents this year. So we just want to keep everybody safe," said Tom Carney, Chicago Department of Transportation.

So far this year crews have filled more than 175,000 potholes.
