The City of Chicago celebrated its 177th birthday Tuesday.

At the ceremony to honor the occasion at the Daley Center, Mayor Emanuel was interrupted by a school activist.

"You should start learning about every child, not just charter kids," said the activist.

"Ok, alright. Ok. You know what, I do say after the Polar Plunge, I appreciate the warm response," Mayor Emanuel said.

The heckling briefly interrupted the celebration that had a Mardi Gras theme.
