Auditions for ABC's 'Rising Star' reality series come to Chicago

LOS ANGELES Auditions are now being held. A nationwide search kicked off in Dallas March 29 and Atlanta April 1. Auditions will also be held in Chicago, Nashville, New York and Boston.

Solo vocalists, duos and vocal groups (up to five members) can register to audition in person, online or nominate a friend or family member. You must be at least 16 years old and you must register first in order to audition and secure an appointment time.

The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they perform live. During the performances viewers vote in real time via an App to determine if the singer will advance in the competition.

The series is the creation of executive producers Ken Warwick ("American Idol") and Nicolle Yaron ("The Voice"). Hopeful singers are encouraged to visit the show's Website Rising Star for more information on the audition process.

You can also follow the show on social media on Facebook and Twitter.

"Rising Star" completely reinvents the traditional singing competition. For the first time a performer's fate relies solely on the audience vote.

If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on. In addition, the performer can see how the voting is going throughout the performance, so the feedback is immediate and dramatic.
