Melrose Park schools on lock down after gunshots reported

Melrose Park schools were put on soft lockdown after witnesses reported gunshots in the 800-block of 11th Avenue around 11:36 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the village.

Witnesses reported hearing gun shots coming from one of two vehicles, which both allegedly fled the scene. The report led officials to lockdown schools in the area temporarily. A vehicle matching a witness' description was found in Maywood and is being investigated by Melrose Park Police, according to the release.

A juvenile was also brought in for questioning about the incident, though police have yet to name any victims or offenders in the incident. No injuries were reported.
