The non-profit organization which represents the wireless industry announces a "voluntary" commitment from most smartphone manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung.
Smartphones made after July 2015 will include a new "anti-theft" tool which could be preloaded or downloaded. The technology would allow consumers to wipe their phone or make it useless if stolen.
