It happened Friday night near 114th and South Aberdeen. Family had gathered at the home to have a party for the woman's cousin before she attended prom. Witnesses say someone opened fire as the party was breaking up.
Summer Moore, 37, was shot in the chest and taken to Christ Hospital, where she later died. She was a mother of three children and a nursing student.
Family says the victim's cousin is still at prom and has no idea what has happened.
Police are investigating. No one is in custody.
