CHICAGO (WLS) -- Both candidates in the race for Illinois governor made a rare joint public appearance Sunday when Republican Bruce Rauner and incumbent Governor Pat Quinn participated in the China Day Parade.

The parade stepped off Sunday afternoon in the city's Chinatown neighborhood.

Quinn, along with Rauner and Rauner's wife greeted people while courting voters ahead of November's upcoming race for governor.

Earlier in the day, Governor Quinn made the rounds at three Chicago churches to participate in the sixth annual First Ladies Health Day.

Quinn joined 50 pastors' wives to talk about the necessity of women getting vital medical prevention tests in the fight against breast cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and HIV/AIDS.
