CHICAGO (WLS) -- Penguins are coming back to Lincoln Park Zoo this fall after a five year hiatus.
The zoo's new penguin exhibit, the Robert and Mayari Pritzker Penguin Cove, will be open to the public October 6.
Nine male and four female African penguins will live in the 3,350-square-foot exhibit, which will showcase nesting areas that will allow the penguins to burrow. Unlike the previous penguin exhibit, the new one will be outdoors.
The endangered penguins are native to South Africa.
