Naperville tent fire likely an arson, police say

Officials have released these photos of the person of interest and his vehicle.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Investigators are now calling the fire that destroyed a Naperville tent earlier this week an arson.

According to police, the tent's owner is involved with public protest and is very opinionated on social media. Police say they believe his tent was a target of the crime.

The tent was set up on the property behind the Mobil Gas Station at 1420 East Ogden. The tent was unoccupied at the time of the fire Monday afternoon. Investigators found propane cylinders in close proximity to the tent.

A person of interest was seen near the tent just prior to the fire. He is described as a white male in his 50s or 60s, 6 feet tall, medium to heavy build, prescription glasses, gray or white hair and was wearing a short sleeve button up shirt and faded jeans. The person of interest's vehicle is believed to be a Hyundai, the model is unknown.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
