High tech turtle tracking

ORLAND PARK, Ill. -- About a dozen turtles got a high tech accessory on Friday in Orland Park, Illinois.

The Forest Preserves of Cook County teamed up with Friends of the Chicago River to attach transmitters to the turtles before dropping them off on Friday morning at Wampum Lake in Thornton.

It's part of a project to improve the turtle habitat in that area.

Forest Preserve officials are tracking the turtles to see where they go and to see if efforts to expand their habitat are working.
