CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 57-year-old woman was killed and a 58-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in the Uptown neighborhood on Chicago's North Side.
Police said a man and women were walking in the 4500-block of N. Sheridan around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when someone in a vehicle opened fire.
They were taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where the woman died of a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. Her name has not yet been released.
The man was shot in the leg and was listed in good condition, police said.
A police source said the pair were outside when two sets of rival gang members opened fire at each other. They were not thought to be the intended targets.
A resident said gang members constantly sell and stash drugs on the block where the shooting happened.
No one is in custody. Area North detectives continue to investigate.
