CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for large swaths of the Chicago area, but the strongest storm activity happened south of Chicago.
Watches remained in effect for Livingston and Kankakee counties in Illinois and Jasper, Newton and Benton counties in Indiana until 11:15 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday evening, heavy rain fell in the area. Crystal Lake received 1.4 inches of rain while 1.25 inches fell in Union.
Showers and storms were predicted to end by Sunday morning, with a small possibility for brief rain during the day.
