Few smoking violations reported in Chicago

There haven't been too many smoking violations reported in Chicago since the Smoke-Free Illinois Act went into effect.Only 54 violations were reported in the city during the first week of January. No two of the violations were for the same establishment.

The low number may be due to the unwillingness of people to report incidents.

The Illinois Public Health Department has received nearly 600 complaints of potential violations elsewhere in the state.
