Inmate who escaped allegedly holds bus hostage

Randy Rencher was being transported from the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office to the Dirksen Federal Building on Thursday.

As the bus was being unloaded, Rencher allegedly pulled a homemade weapon on an inmate.

A deputy marshal talked him into releasing the inmate. Rencher then allegedly tried to hurt himself, so another deputy marshal tasered him.

Rencher was treated at Northwestern Memorial and is now being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
